10 Time Management Tips To Be Successful

10 Time Management Tips To Be Successful

Ever feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day?

Wonder how others manage to accomplish so much in the same amount of time you have?

After all, there are only 24 hours in a day, and everyone has the same 24 hours available!

Here are a few tips that might help, especially if you work from home.

  1. Schedule out priorities for the week every Sunday evening

  2. Pick the top 3 for each day, once those are done, take the next 3

  3. Work in blocks of time, being sure to schedule in short breaks (5 minutes every hour)

  4. Set your intention for each block before you start

  5. Don’t multi-task, pick one task and complete it before moving to next

  6. If working from home, alternate between desk jobs and household chores that are a must. Variety helps keep the brain active and the body healthy

  7. When you take your breaks, do at least 5 deep breaths. Inhale to a count of 5, then exhale while silently repeating release, release, release and literally let the tension fall from your body.

  8. Get up and move at least once an hour, even if you just do a couple of stretches, toe touches, marching in place, walk around your desk, fill your water. Moving helps stimulate the brain and drain tension built up while sitting, especially if you are typing a lot.

  9. Drink lots of water. It not only keeps you hydrated, it makes you HAVE to get up to use the bathroom!

  10. Schedule downtime, relaxation, fun. If it isn’t in the schedule, it is usually doesn’t happen.

I use most of these techniques to help keep me on task. If I don’t set alarms to make me get up and move, or to keep me on the specific task at hand, then move to the next, I can spend hours on one thing, not moving. When I do get up, I’m stiff and full of tension. I find I am much more productive when I stay focused for an hour, then take a short break before coming back to finish the task, or move on to the next.
