How To Balance Hormones Naturally

How To Balance Hormones Naturally

I thought it might be a good idea to give you some information on how to balance and support your hormones naturally. Here are some suggestions of how you can help control them by diet and lifestyle.

  1. Reduce refined sugars and processed foods. Eat more whole, natural foods.  Replace empty carbs with nutrient dense foods. Some suggestions are to consume healthy fats like avocado, sustainable fresh wild-caught salmon, and coconut oil.

  2. Using adaptogen herbs is also very beneficial. Some of the best are Ashwangandha, Holy Basil, Rhodiola, and medicinal mushrooms.

  3. Use essential oils like Clary Sage, Fennel, Lavender, Sandalwood, and Thyme.

  4. Evening Primrose Oil and Vitamin D are essential nutrients that we just can’t get in our diets.

  5. Eat as many green leafy vegetables and a rainbow variety of all fruits and veggies every day. The daily recommendation is 7-14 fist size servings daily!

  6. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water every day. (If you weigh 120#, drink 60 ozs.)

  7. Get 7-8 hours of quality sleep every night. I know, that seems impossible when your hormones are out of whack and sleep eludes you. To maximize hormone function, ideally try to get to bed by 10 p.m. and stick with a regular sleep-wake-cycle as much as possible.

  8. Take steps to reduce stress in your life. Get a little exercise every day. Go for walks, get massages if you can, sit outside in the open air, do deep breathing exercises, meditate, pray, whatever you can to just unplug and unwind.

There are so many other things you can do. I highly recommend doing some research, find a good functional medicine doctor who will test your hormone levels and help you get started on the road to balance.
