10 Reasons To Detox

One of the most common New Year’s resolutions is to get healthy. It's easy to look for a quick fix, but after trying them, I can tell you they aren’t lasting. I have tried food elimination diets, counting carbs, cutting fats and special diets for short bursts. While I may see immediate changes, once I stop, the bad habits come right back!  Getting healthy means making lifestyle and mindset changes. I spent years doing cleanses and special diets to try to get healthier. The fact is, our bodies need more than just a few days of clean eating. We need to learn to eat well MOST of the time. Detoxing provides a solid and necessary foundation - and so much more!


Here are my TOP TEN reasons to tackle a significant detox, rather than just planning another diet!

Detoxing isn’t a one-time thing; to do it properly and to be more than just another dieting phase, you need to flush those toxins out of your body completely and keep them out. Toxins are stored in the fat cells, so we need to flush them out with proper hydration and nutritional support. We are exposed to so many toxins on a daily basis, we really can’t keep up with it! It requires a transformed lifestyle and holistic approach. The air we breathe, the products we use on our bodies, the foods we eat, the water we drink…they are all full of toxins. We must be mindful of what we put in and on our bodies!

We are exposed to toxic environments daily at work, at home, in the store. And it isn’t just chemical toxins. We are also exposed to toxic relationships that can have adverse effects on our health, emotionally and physically. Unless you live in a bubble, I’m guessing you could benefit from a good healthy cleanse! 

To keep up with the toxins I know I’m exposed to, I do a monthly detox to keep my body and mind functioning at a higher level, and I make intentional choices to eat a clean, healthy diet the rest of the month. But it takes time to detox properly, more so the longer you’ve been exposed to toxins. Making changes that you can incorporate into your daily lifestyle is essential to sustaining a clean lifestyle. 



Detoxing can be an intense experience, especially if you haven’t done it before - it often brings up some pretty significant side effects, physical and emotional!
